Swapfolk / Austin / Guitar
Find someone in Austin who knows guitar and wants what you know. You teach them your thing, they teach you theirs. A trade, not a lesson you pay for.
Austin opens at 100 founding members.
Austin has more guitar players per block than almost any city in the country, and most of them would happily show a beginner the first four chords. What they do not have is a reason to. Swapfolk gives them one: you teach something back.
A swap is simple. You find someone in Austin who plays and wants to learn what you know, whether that is Spanish, cooking, lifting, or running their own ads. You meet up. They teach you guitar, you teach them your thing. No invoice.
The first session is usually the basics: how to hold it, tuning, two or three open chords, and one song you actually want to play. Nobody is working through a method book. A player who has been at it ten years can get you through a full song by ear within a month of swaps.
What it costs you is teaching something you already know.
At launch, the people trading guitar are hobbyists and working musicians who want Spanish, cooking, fitness, marketing help, or a language. If you are a player who wants to learn something, you can list guitar as the skill you give and we will match you with learners.
Ten years playing blues. Happy to start from zero.
